Voodoo Doughnut Creates Sweet Partnership with Autistic Self Advocacy Network Through Their Quarterly Giving Campaign!

July 1st – September 30th, 2019

Voodoo Doughnut rolls out a new quarterly giving campaign, bringing back a fan favorite, the Cherry Time (and the lemon’s easy). This summertime treat is a raised yeast doughnut topped with vanilla frosting, lemonade dust, yellow sprinkles and filled with wholesome cherry jelly.

As part of their commitment to giving back, Voodoo will donate a portion of proceeds from EVERY Cherry Time sold back to Autistic Self Advocacy Network (ASAN), an organization who believes that the goal of autism advocacy should be a world in which autistic people enjoy equal access, rights, and opportunities.

“ASAN works to create a more just and inclusive society for all people with disabilities, and we’re excited for this opportunity to partner with Voodoo Doughnut. Through policy advocacy, resource development and leadership training, we work to make sure that autistic people’s voices are heard when it comes to policy issues that affect our lives. This fundraiser is a sweet way to support our work!” Autistic Self Advocacy Network.

“Coming from a family who has experienced the challenges and more importantly, the joy of someone with autism, I am really happy to be a part of this sweet partnership,” Voodoo Doughnut co-founder, Kenneth “Cat Daddy” Pogson.

This year, Voodoo Doughnut has raised over fourteen thousand dollars for non-profit organizations through their quarterly give-back campaign.

Autistic Self Advocacy Network (ASAN):

The Autistic Self Advocacy Network is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization run by and for autistic people. ASAN was created to serve as a national grassroots disability rights organization for the autistic community, advocating for systems change and ensuring that the voices of autistic people are heard in policy debates and the halls of power. Their dedicated staff works to advance civil rights, support self-advocacy in all its forms, and improve public perceptions of autism. ASAN’s members and supporters include autistic adults and youth, cross-disability advocates, and non-autistic family members, professionals, educators, and friends.

Voodoo Doughnut:

Voodoo Doughnut is the brainchild of old friends Cat Daddy and Tres Shannon. In 2003 they decided to embark on a shared entrepreneurial venture–something that combined quality hospitality with their daring do-it-yourself brand of show business and delicious doughnuts. Creators of the Bacon Maple Bar, Portland Cream, and Memphis Mafia… Voodoo has taken the world by storm. With their crazy concoctions, their kooky co-founders have taken the classic doughnut shop and raised it to a new level. Cat Daddy and Tres built their “little doughnut shop that could,” into a dynamic fun zone in front of and behind the counter, with locations in Oregon, Colorado, Texas, California & Florida. This year marks Voodoo Doughnut’s continued expansion, opening a second location in Denver, CO on Father’s day with another coming to Houston, Texas and two more undisclosed locations to follow.
